Free Muslim Homeschooling Guide Announcement – K to High School

Assalaam ‘alaykum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

More than ten years ago, I had a dream of creating a classified source of educational resources for my children to make the process of homeschooling easier for us. It only made sense to also share it with others who may need it as well. So I started Ihsaan Home Academy. I’ve shared many resources by category over the years and also used them to create our own curriculum.

FREE Muslim Homeschooling Guide Announcement

For me, going through books, videos and doing my own research to create a curriculum that fits my children is fun, even though I’m usually quick to get overwhelmed by too much information. However, I knew that not everyone could do that or had the time to.

So I wanted to create a simple, structured, accessible and step by step Kindergarten to High School homeschooling guide for Muslim families. Realistically, I couldn’t do that at the time and certainly didn’t have the experience to. So I let it be a long-term project. I believe the time has now come to start this project and I wanted to share it with you.

What Ihsaan Home Academy Pathways Will Be

IHA Pathways will be a free online Muslim homeschooling curriculum guide for parents who may feel unsure about where to start, overwhelmed by too many choices and not fully confident in their ability to homeschool. Islam will be integrated within the daily guide as much as possible. So instead of searching endlessly, parents can simply open the lesson and know: “This is what we’re doing today.”

It will NOT take the responsibility of parents’ involvement in their children’s education as it’s only meant to assist and take away the usual confusion aspiring home educators often have.

The curriculum guide will be in the form of courses where you or your child can checkmark lessons as you progress. Once confident, you can pick and choose, omit or make changes that fit your children’s learning style.

A Guided Approach (NOT a Replacement)

I must make it clear, this is not meant to fully replace the parent’s role in educating. You are still the teacher as you know your child best and know why you decided to homeschool. This guide is here to support you, organize learning and give you a starting point. You can adjust lessons, skip what doesn’t work for your family or go deeper where needed. It is meant to be flexible and not restrictive.

Subjects that Will Be Covered

IHA Pathways will start with core subjects and gradually include more.

Core Subjects:

  • Qur’an (as a companion, not a replacement for traditional learning)
  • Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Islamic Studies
  • Arabic

Over time, additional optional subjects will be included:

  • Health & Safety
  • Life Skills (cooking, baking, sewing, crochet, etc.)
  • Financial Literacy
  • Coding
  • Painting
  • More

Islamic Integration

Where possible, lessons will be adapted with an Islamic lens including:

  • Islamic-Based Reflections
  • Summaries
  • Explanations
  • Moral Stories

Academic Excellence, Nurturing Emaan/Faith & Good Character

The goal of IHA is to help Muslim educators teach their children to:

  • Love and understand the basics of Islam
  • Be compassionate and considerate
  • Respect others and different cultures
  • Be firm and confident in their own faith
  • Understand the world
  • Love meaningful literature

This curriculum guide will not replace deeper Islamic knowledge. Parents can choose what aligns with their understanding, but it will provide a strong, gentle foundation based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

How It Will Be Released

The courses will be released in four stages, starting right before the beginning of next school year, InshaAllah.

Stage 1 (Starting in 2027):

  • Lower Elementary – Kindergarten to Grade 3 (K–3)

Start 2 (Will be Announced After Stage 1):

  • Elementary – Grade 4 to 6

Stage 3 (Will be Announced After Stage 2):

  • Middle School – Grade 7 to 8

Stage 4 (Will be Announced After Stage 3):

  • High School (presented as High School 1, 2, 3)

Each stage will be built carefully, with intention and room for improvement inshaa Allah.

Completely Free

All core resources used in the curriculum will be free, easy to use and have high-quality resources already available online; such as public domain books, educational videos and other free resources embedded or linked into a clear and structured path outlined week by week and day by day. They will also include summaries and reflections.

Being free is especially important for families who cannot afford expensive curricula. Although free, I may include optional book recommendations for families who wish to enrich learning further. Once they have a foundation and are ready to supplement and make changes, they would be able to do that with ease inshaa Allah.

Community Effort

This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a decade now, but community effort will make it even better.

You can volunteer by doing the following:

  • Submit free resources you’d like to suggest
  • Submit resources you’ve created and are happy to share (with permission)
  • Share book recommendations (these will be reviewed carefully)
  • Submit your own book for review (preferred over book recommendations as I’d be reading them myself before posting)
  • Teach a free full course (in later stages)

You can start now with giving book recommendations by submitting the form below.

After the first stage is live inshaa Allah, I will welcome volunteers who would like to contribute in other ways.

Stay Updated

If you’d like to follow along this journey and get updates on the progress, subscribe to the mailing list to be notified.

You will receive an update for the progress on the first stage until it goes live. There will also be a countdown as we get closer to launching, inshaa Allah.
