I’m Umm Sumayyah, a published author, a former school teacher and have been homeschooling for 10+ years. On this website/blog, I write about:

My main focus is on education and sharing homeschooling resources with other Muslim home educators.

Homeschooling is increasingly becoming common, but newer in the Muslim community. It is very important for home educators and aspiring home educators to encourage each other, support, share tips, and make ways to ease each other’s journey. The support doesn’t only have to come from experienced homeschoolers because everyone does things differently and have different ideas that can benefit others. Some people know exactly what they want to do from the beginning, and others learn as they gain experience. But at the end of the day, we all improve from experience and by learning from others.

As a parent (especially a mother), I believe that teaching my children is part of my role despite it not necessarily being the ‘norm’ in today’s world. I always knew that homeschooling was what I wanted for my children, so I pray that Allah will help us through and make it be successful beyond my expectations.
